Belarusian-Latvian Centre of Technology Transfer was created in 2004 as a structural department of the the Republican Innovative Unitary Enterprise “Scientific and Technological Park BNTU “Polytechnic”.
The center was created by the decision of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the Latvian Academy of Sciences, and with the active assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Latvia.
Goals and objectives:
• assistance to the educational organizations, innovative and industrial enterprises in expansion of business and scientific relations and contacts in scientific and technical, production and educational areas of the Republic of Belarus with the similar organizations and enterprises of the Republic of Latvia;
• supporting small and medium-sized innovative enterprises;
• formation of the effective mechanism of interaction between Belarus and Latvia in the course of implementation of joint projects and promotion of the modern technologies and goods on the markets of the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Belarus and the third countries, development of the innovative activity;
• expansion of relationship by means of Belarusian-Latvian cooperation with foreign partners of European Union.
The Centre offers the following services to the interested parties: advertising on the website, holding marketing researches of the markets of Belarus and Latvia, searching partners on the territory of both countries, organization and holding of the economical forums, exhibitions, conferences, contact-cooperation exchanges, participation in creation of joint structures by commercialization and assimilation of scientific and technical developments, creation of electronic databases of innovative projects, which are of common interests, and exchange of information on projects data by its placement on the websites.
In 2008-2009 the Centre successfully has completed the R&D project «The creation of information analytical Internet-oriented system of technology transferring assistance between Latvia and Belarus based on expert modules of supply and demand evaluation, www.polytechnic.by/sstt.
The Belarusian-Latvian Center of Technology Transfer has taken part in creation of joint scientific innovative production centre of laser (strengthen) technologies on the basis of the Daugavpils University, «Magistr» company, Belarusian National Technical University and Liepaja metallurgical works. In 2009 the Belarusian-Latvian cooperative exchange was successfully held, where 62 organizations of Belarus and Latvia took part.
Centre provides informational and consulting support in filing at the contest of joint Belarusian-Latvian research projects.
